I think a lot of you are probably like me. Inside of us there’s this deep desire for greatness that I believe is pure because you and I are created in the image of God. But most of us live with the tension of wanting to be great but also the nagging awareness that we are in fact - ordinary.
And our culture accentuates our tension...
God specializes in taking ordinary people and doing extraordinary things through them. Look at the disciples… Peter and Andrew were fisherman. Thomas was a doubter. Matthew was a crooked IRS agent. Simon was a zealot - basically a rebel who wanted to overthrow Roman rule with violence.
We are ordinary people in the hands of an extraordinary God.
